ICICTE 2010: TECHNOLOGY AND WISDOM : A new Approach of combining the Ego and the electronic Ego (eId@I) as a means of developing wisdom in present day youth
The Internet, which permits direct access to information and the formation of unlimited relationships between people, makes possible a new learning environment; a democratic environment in which everyone’s voice can be heard. The sustainable e-School has harnessed the technology for education for human values, in ways that offer the students choices, involvement and active engagement.
Guiding Principles
e-School offers future-oriented programs, centered on human, ethical & practical questions rising from current issues. The participants are involved in:
- Interdisciplinary learning combining historical, social, psychological and artistic aspects
- A multicultural dialogue, with listening to and acceptance of the ‘other’, governed by the rules of Netiquette
- The formulation of personal and community identity
- Examining the significance of communal and national affiliation
- Personal and group research using online databases
Methods
- Build a network of organisations and key persons who will work together to establish an international educational network and to assemble an educational ‘Tool Box’ for all member of the network
- Train teachers and educators to use the network and the educational tools created
- Discover & Train young leadership
- Create a data base that will consist of:
- Best practices
- Existing tool boxes from previous projects (allinpeace, Michael’s Dialogue…)
- Case studies
- Materials developed in each exchange project
- Establishment of youth research groups in all participating countries
- International Presentations of projects and products of the participants in the program.
- Work with the ministries of education and local authorities in participating countries in order to integrate the program into schools curriculum, so that it’s contents will be taught through existing lessons of English, History, sociology, Computer classes etc.
